A Facelift or Rhytidectomy removes the loose skin on your face and neck, tightens underlying tissues and removes excess fat. Aging of the face can be caused by a variety of factors including sun exposure, smoking, age, and genetics. The signs of facial aging include loose skin, prominent folds around the mouth, “jowling” along the jaw line, and sagging skin of the neck. Dr. Rodgers performs a Facelift procedure to soften the lines on the face giving you more pleasing contours. The result is a smoother, firmer and younger appearance to your face and neck.
Facial rejuvenation can include a facelift procedure in combination with other enhancement procedures to give a harmonious balance to the face. Dr. Rodgers performs these other procedures that often include Eyelid lifts (Blepharoplasty), Brow lifts (Endoscopic Technique), and Laser skin resurfacing to compliment the face lifting procedure.
The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia with an overnight stay at an ambulatory surgery center. The Facelift procedure takes about four hours and you will spend about two hours in the recovery room and then be transferred to an overnight room. In the first three to four days you will have the most swelling, but by applying ice and keeping your head elevated you can diminish this swelling. Most people are back in the “public eye” in about ten to fourteen days and back to exercising and full activities in four to six weeks.
