Microsurgery
One of the most significant advances in modern surgical treatment has been the development of microsurgery. Operating under a microscope allows a surgeon to repair blood vessels and nerves less than a millimeter in diameter. With this technology, amputated fingers are allowed to be reattached, tissue can be transferred from one area of the body to another (such as in breast reconstruction), and tumors can be meticulously removed from individual nerve fibers to maintain the maximal function postoperatively. Dr. Rodgers will utilize this technology in any way that will help his patients regain form and/or function.
