Liposuction

Have you noticed that all of your favorite pants have been shrinking? If so, perhaps it is time to consider liposuction. As the most common Cosmetic Surgery procedure performed in the U. S., Liposuction can help give you the shape you desire. Proper diet and exercise are vital to looking and feeling better about your appearance. However, when that is not enough, liposuction can help improve your contour in those “hard to lose” areas resulting in a smoother, more contoured appearance.

Current media outlets have bombarded us with information on minimal- or non-invasive fat removal. Dr. Rodgers wants to be completely clear that the only minimally- invasive process to remove fat that has been studied for decades and proven both safe and effective is traditional liposuction. BEWARE: Most forms of “laser” liposuction or injections/machines that dissolve fat are performed by non-Plastic Surgeons-usually in a back room of their office!! Dr. Rodgers only performs surgery in a fully-accredited hospital or State Licensed surgery center with all anesthesia performed by certified and licensed personnel.

Traditional liposuction involves injecting fluid into the area to be treated. This fluid facilitates fat removal and contains a “numbing” medication in addition to epinephrine to minimize bruising. The procedure is done as an outpatient and can take between one and four hours-depending on how many areas are treated. Please note that Dr. Rodgers recommends an overnight stay for high-volume, or total-body liposuction. A compression garment will be supplied for you to wear postoperatively. Regular wearing of this garment is imperative to help control swelling and optimize results. Expect noticeable results in a couple of weeks and continued improvement for up to 6 to 9 months before your permanent results finalize! Of course, the more you do physically and through diet during that time will pay-off exponentially.

Many patients inquire about the down-time and cost involved with liposuction. Of course, this depends on the volume removed and the number of areas you have treated.

The average patient has liposuction on the abdomen and thighs on Thursday and is back to work with minimal discomfort by Monday. Single-area liposuction can cost as little as $2,500. The average patient treats 2 to 4 areas and spends between $3,000 and $5,000.

Total-body liposuction can approach $10,000, which includes your overnight stay with intravenous fluids. Please note that prices are all-inclusive of anesthesia and operating room costs.
